“Gunnuhver is a really energetic geothermal place of mud swimming pools and steam vents on the southwest part of the Reykjanes Peninsula. Named just after an offended female ghost , Gudrun [or Gunna], whose spirit was trapped in the very hot springs by a priest four hundred yrs in the past, the steamy place has an eerie ambiance and an extraordinary sulphur vapor.
… The colorful minerals in the floor present vivid hues, but danger is pretty true with temperatures more than 300°C (570°F) so it is critical to tread evenly and adhere to the trails. Iceland´s greatest mud pool resides at Gunnuhver it is 20 meters (sixty five ft) huge of violently boiling earth.”
